PSA Healthcare in Haiti —
Help us help the HNF!
As many of you are keenly aware, the recent earthquake in Haiti has been devastating to the citizens
of that country. You clearly saw what a vital role the nurses and nursing students of Haiti played in
providing what little medical care and help there was in the early days of this disaster. You could not
watch TV without it tearing your heart out!
PSA is a company of caring healthcare professionals, predominately nurses. As our Chief Nursing
Officer, I have been searching for the best way for us to make an impact as a group. I believe I have
found a means for us to help support our profession in Haiti and I believe it is a natural connection.
The Haiti Nursing Foundation (HNF) was founded in 2005 to support the advancement of nursing
in the Republic of Haiti. The focus of this support is on nursing education. Its major focus is supporting
the Faculté des Sciences Infirmières de l’Université Episcopale d’Haïti (Faculty of Nursing Science
of the Episcopal University of Haiti - or FSIL), located in Léogâne, Haiti about 20 miles from Port-au-
Prince. Other purposes include support of special projects to improve the practice of nursing in Haiti.
FSIL cannot survive, especially now, without significant help from outside Haiti.
We have been in touch with the Executive Director of the HNF. They are operational, they are working
strenuously to help, and they can receive our funds.
I invite you to join me in making a contribution that can and will make a difference. Your contributions
will go to providing medical supplies, hygiene kits and other support for the school’s relief efforts.
Make whatever contribution you can, as any amount will go a long way during this time of need.
PSA will match the funds collected up to a total $5000.
Please make your check payable to the Haitian Nursing Foundation and send it to my attention:

We will collect monies through the end of February and send it to them all at one time. I would also
encourage you to write a quick note of well wishes and encouragement to the nurses and students.
I will make a portfolio and include it with the money we collect. I am sure the Haiti Nursing Foundation
— and the nurses in Haiti — will enjoy the uplifting messages from their colleagues in the States.
If you are interested in more information about the HNF and the school, I invite you to go to their
facebook page and/or website below.
Thank you for your contribution and for being a part of the PSA team!
Sincerely,
Beth Rubio
Chief Nursing Officer
